Scary Clowns and the Stuff of Urban Myth
Just had to share this with you! Last week my daughter's friend was babysitting for her baby brother and couldn't get the baby to sleep. She rang her mum, who said take all the stuffed toys out of the room. The daughter said she had done, except for the big clown in the corner of the room - to which her mother replied, we haven't got a big clown! Take the baby and get out of the house, and go next door.
It turns out that the clown was a man, who had dressed himself up as a clown and parked himself in the corner of the baby's room, pretending to be a toy! Mum rang the police and the clown was arrested.
Unbelievable but true. Apparently. And a bit scary! Close those windows.

Oh my GOD!!!!!
Oh holy shit. (sorry for swearing) but OH MY GOD. True? Or apocryphal? Horrifying story either way.
I'm also too shaken to write.....
I came to say 'hi, I like your blog,' but OMG, how horrible! All the blood drained from my face when I read that. How creepy. Now I know why my best friend is terrified of clowns!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!
That photo needs a warning!!!
God, that really is too awful for words!!
You read about crazy stuff in the press but never expect it to happen to 'real' people...
I'm speechless.
Shudder.
good GRIEF. I've never been scared of clowns. Until now.
Hi all - I was telling my students about this one and guess what - apparently it happened in Sunderland too! Hmm. Urban myth strikes again! Anyone fancy researching it a bit more?!
Oh sweet Jesus that had to be the scariest thing alive. Oh my. I shouldn't have read that before I go to bed. Yeah, there will be no sleeping now.
Creepy, creepy, creepy.
But I do like your blog.
~em~ horrid isn't it. But possibly, likely to be, urban myth, so perhaps not so scary unless you think no smoke without fire... hmmm! Sleep soundly next to your open windows ;)
This chilled me horribly when i first read it. I hope to god it is an apocryphal tale. I found this, which suggests that it might be, and hopefully might set our minds at rest:

I love Urban Myths ~ I am fascintated by what they reveal about our underlying fears and suspicions, and I think there are some great seeds for fiction embedded in them.
Kate - super sleuth! And what a wonderful website. Either we'll all sleep easy tonight or we'll give ourselves nightmares reading all those urban myths and allowing our imaginations to run wild ;-)
if there was a life sized clown sitting in the corner of the room, im sure i would notice it wasn't a toy. she must of got close to it aswel as she cleared up all the other toys around it so i don't think this is true!!
