all in a mess

I have spent today looking through the 30K I've written so far and come to realise that because I have this annoying habit of 'leap frogging' - that is fixing stuff as I go - I now have 7,000 words of almost finished, edited material (or 3 chapters) and

lots
and
lots
and
lots
of

mess
So now I don't quite know what to do...
Argh!!!!

Am going to have to rearrange and reread and rewrite. Lots of reing to do. And then there's a conference paper thingy to finish, and marking to do, and, and, and, not having a panic attack.
I am in 2 minds. One Two.
Just keep going. start again - you know you want to
Don't edit or fix. fix it - it's all crap - rewrite
That's it. I've had enough. I'm leaving them both to it. I'm off to watch some mind numbing telly for a bit.

I have just gone through my 25k words because i'm confused and can't see a way forward. I have pulled out 8-9k words and am putting aside the rest which I plan to use to work from! It's horrible to lose all those words (some may come back) because it feels like a horrible backwards step, but I wasn't able to make any more progress because they were SUCH A MESS.
Hope you work it out.

Yes... it'll be okay. This is how I work. It is a messy way to work but no matter how organised I try to be, how disciplined and ordered, I always end up having to make sense of utter chaos. Maybe this is creativity in action!?
